Job History:
All copy should be written with a purpose whether the reason is to hire the right candidate, inform, inspire, or anything else you need.
As a technical writer, my job is to create dynamic and clear documentation for select audiences, taking complex concepts and making those concepts simple and/or manageable. I first stepped into this career as a sales and processes technical writer in the sales and management consulting field.
The knowledge stored in the heads of top performers and leaders in a company is too valuable to be held in the mind alone. I work with a team that extracts this knowledge of best practices, systems, and processes, and creates documentation that helps align team members towards the same goal with the best resources available. Every soul in the company needs to be moving in the same direction with the right tools or risk insignificant returns and team disarray.
Additionally, I’m an executive assistant. This job has lead me to a wide variety of work like backend tech management for a clothing boutique, SaaS evaluation, sales tool design, video editing, and much more. I never once thought I’d help open up a women’s clothing boutique or learn Premiere Pro to help my boss’ daughter with her soccer videos for college, but I’m glad I widened my scope of work. (Thanks Patrick!)
But before I was a technical writer, I worked in the service industry for about 6 years. Everybody who’s worked in this industry knows that you have to grow some thick skin to be successful. My service experience is the foundation of how I work. I’ve had to work with a ton of different people, environments, menus, and "embarrassing” mistakes. If I had to point out a few nuggets I found when working in the service industry, they’d be…
“Hustle.”
“Be clear and concise in what you’re communicating”
“Team work is everything”
“Do your fair share of work”
and “The waiter will hook you up with some good stuff if you’re a decent person to them”
About Me:
I was born in the Philippines and immigrated to Santa Rosa with my mother when I was just a baby. She worked extremely hard for me to be where I’m at today and I’m eternally grateful, not only for the opportunities, but also for the lessons that were passed down to me. She taught me how to be smart and work hard at the same time. She would say, “Kailangan mong maghanap ng mga paraan upang mapabuti at mapabilis ang iyong trabaho (find the process that will make your work better and faster).” She fulfilled her dream of buying a house for my late grandmother and me and I often look back at the work that she put in for inspiration.
Aside from my upbringing…
I’ve always been a big music person. I started playing guitar in 6th grade and have been playing off and on ever since. I was a singer at some point too, but I reluctantly bring up that era… Recently, I picked up the bass guitar and played with a couple bands.
I’m an avid music listener, and I take my style from genres like Jazz, Hip-Hop, RnB, Rock, and Indie. But, I am open to all types of music if it’s not corny. My favorite artists include Nujabes, Anderson .Paak, Tom Misch, and Cage the Elephant.
I participated in Judo, Wrestling, and Golf growing up. I’ve got a decent swing, but don’t ask me to get on the Nine without practicing at the range for an hour.
I love to travel but we’ve obviously been restricted. But, when I do have enough money and time, I want visit the homeland again. I’m excited to one day bring my partner and her family to my family home back on the islands.
I live with my partner, a great elementary SPED teacher, and two dogs. My dogs can not be anymore different. Isla is a Formosan Mountain Dog with all the energy in the world and Princess is a Shih Tsu, but she’s really a cat in a dog’s body.
Thank you for taking the time to read about me!
